Solar panel systems have been proven to be a great spot for pigeon nesting and breeding. The amount of debris that builds up from nesting, droppings, and natural debris has become a big issue for most solar panel system owners.
Aside from the mess, possible system damage and roof rot, there are major health risks as well. Pigeon droppings have been known to cause asthmatic and allergic complications. A serious disease, “Histoplasmosis” can be transmitted through the air from accumulated dry pigeon waste. Other diseases such as “Pigeon Ornithosis,” “Encephalitis,” “Toxoplasmosis,” “Newcastle Disease,” “Salmonella,” and others can be contracted from pigeon waste as well.

Service and Materials
Here at Solworx we use a galvanized, PVC dipped steel mesh barrier that is specially designed for solar panel systems. The steel mesh has an average lifespan of 10 years. The mounting, locking clips, we use to correctly fasten the protective barrier to your systems are also specially designed for the solar system. They do not require drilling or abrasives, therefore, do not cause any damage to your system. They simply lock to the underside of the frame and securely hold the barrier in place. They look great too!
The steel mesh comes in a low profile, sleek black color and complements any home. The strength and durability of the mesh is made to withstand nature and all it has to throw at it! When installed by a pro, here at Solworx, we make sure the material is cut to the exact curvature of your roof to ensure nothing will penetrate, not even the smallest of birds and critters. We use a quarter inch size mesh that still allows air flow and water to easily pass through your systems.
Cleaning and Installation
Here at Solworx we believe in 100% customer satisfaction. Prior to installation, clean up of all bird droppings, nesting debris, feathers, natural debris and anything else built-up underneath and around your systems and rooftop will be prioritized. Additionally, services may be requested for delicate wildlife removal. While this process can be inevitably messy, we do our best to prevent any scattering of debris to keep your property as clean as possible.
Our pros here at Solworx will install your barrier protector to exact fit. Caging will be flush with top panels and cut to the precise curvature of the roofline. We securely mount the protective barrier with precise locking clips that will last for many years to come. Installation process can usually be completed in one visit.
During our productive barrier installation, we will provide a courtesy inspection of your system. We will also clean your panels utilizing our triple filter de-ionized water purification system that will leave your panels exceptionally clean and producing at maximum output.
